![]() ![]() A lot of people also didn't like how there were Orion disciples in every tournament game except 1, and how they'd blatantly foul or just try to kill IJ players outright & the refs would just ignore it.Īnother common complaint is the constant focus on Last Resort & that Kozoumaru came back & seemed to be even more of a 'Gouenji clone' (vapid argument because he had a good arc but some people refuse to see that) even down to being the only other person to 'inherit' it from him (not counting Petronio). Orion's main problem was pacing of its story & wasted potential - if the writers had done what they were initially planning to rather than rushing (and not butchered nearly every OG character not named Endou), it could have easily been one of the best IE seasons. The biggest crime though was obviously writing out Megane. We don't even see where half of the other Raimon players went, like Kurimatsu, Handa, Matsuno, Shishido, Shourin & Kageno so they got tossed to the side again like most of them did in OG S2. Then you look at Hakuren - we finally see Atsuya have his own body & personality but he's somehow worse as his own character compared to being part of Fubuki's DID in S2 Someoka is also there but does literally nothing, not even Dragon Crash. There are also little things about the treatment of OG characters which aren't that deep but do trigger die hard fans like Kazemaru being in Teikoku (rather than Kidou, if they had to put a Raimon ambassador there) & had no issue trusting Kageyama, and beloved players like Fudou & Aphrodi getting done dirty.Įven looking at the teams featured in the series, keeping in mind it takes place the year after the events of OG1 but in an alternate timeline, you had original teams that went largely unexplored like Minodouzan, interesting ones from OG S2 who were missing here like Cloister Divinity & lackluster returning ones like Zeus (Perseus was the most interesting character yet we still know virtually nothing about him) & especially Mikage Sennou (everyone's favourite spiky-haired GK got replaced with an NPC). ![]() Then you've got the fact that the main 'villain' wasn't remotely memorable or threatening Nosaka filled that position better & he wasn't even a villain/bad person. The hate for Ares is almost entirely composed of the sum of Inakuni's parts (literally everything about them except the kit) & their impenetrable plot armour, especially their match vs Eisei & the 2 goals they scored on Endou - it's quite telling that the best match in the show is the only one we see in full which doesn't involve Inakuni in any way. The complaints seem to have died down a bit but there are still plenty of passionate haters. ![]() For comments, use this markup: >!this is a spoiler!< For posts with Orion content, please follow the spoilers policy listed in our rules and flair your post as "Spoilers" and use the in-built Reddit Spoilers tag.
